Växjö University is a young university characterized by pioneer spirit, creativity and openness to new challenges within research, postgraduate and undergraduate education.

Its background as a regional university in combination with new ways of facing the tasks of a full-fledged university gives Växjö University a unique competitive advantage, encapsulated in terms of closeness, regional support and national and international cooperation. These favourable conditions will form the basis of the continued development of the university and the springboard for the university to reach a leading position in a number of education and research areas.

Växjö University is a young university characterised by a pioneering spirit, creativity and openness to new challenges in research, postgraduate- and undergraduate education. New approaches to solving the tasks facing a fully-fledged university give a unique competitive advantage, manifested in terms of closeness, regional support and national and international cooperation. These assets will form the basis of the continued development of the university and the springboard to a leading position in a number of areas in education and research.

The University offers a wide range of programmes and single subject courses. Postgraduate degrees are available in 20 subjects at present. Today, a total of more than 14,000 undergraduates are registered at Växjö University. Nearly 1,000 people are employed as researchers, lecturers and administrators. More than 2,500 students at the university are registered for education entailing alternative forms of instruction such as distance learning, evening- and weekend courses.

Växjö University offers education at seven different Schools:
- The School of Management and Economics
- The School of the Humanities
- The School of Technology and Design
- The School of Education
- The School of Social Sciences
- The School of Health Sciences and Social Work
- The School of Mathematics and Systems Engineering

Most of the Schools are involved in the teacher training programme. Växjö University also offers commissioned education courses, such as the Police Education and Training Programme funded by the Swedish National Police Board.
